Coach Jeff Wells was a three-sport athlete in high school and remains a lifelong competitive runner, earning National Class age grades in the 3-mile, 5k, and 10k distances. He began his coaching career at the youth level for the West Valley Eagles Track Club before moving on to coach at the high school level. Coach Wells began coaching at Agoura High School in 2013 and he has since helped coach the Agoura Boys Track team to a League Championship, and Boys Distance athletes to five school records (800m, 4×800, 4×1600, DMR, SMR) along with a Southern Section individual champion (1600m).

Coach Wells’ relatives are high school national track record holders, Colin and Aaron Sahlman.
